Mary continues to heal her community one patient at a time.

Mary Tracy has lived in several different places, including Africa and Europe, but when it came time to settle down and start her career she came back home to Speculator and a job at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

"My family was here," she says. "That was the big thing. I also find that there is more of a sense of community here. When I lived in Nashville, for example, I didn't even know my neighbors. Here I go to the grocery store and end up having long conversations with the people I bump into. I really like that."

After just two years of working as a physician's assistant, Mary says she feels like she has so many opportunities in her career. She's happy with her position in the ER, but she knows there is much more that she will be able to do.

"In general, I think this region offers plenty of opportunities," she says. "I'm very happy to be here."
